Salah Issues Statement to Teammates, Says Curtis Jones
Jones has revealed that Mohamed Salah apologised to the entire Liverpool squad in the wake of the controversy from his recent interview.
What Happened
He was omitted from a key Champions League match following voicing frustrations and stating his connection to the head coach had deteriorated.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, please accept my apology.’”
The manager has chosen not to comment publicly on whether he received a personal apology from the 33-year-old forward.
Moving Forward
Jones insisted that the squad's reaction stayed normal. “He was his usual self, he was smiling and it was business as usual,” Jones added.
Jones also implied that a competitor wanting to play is a positive trait. “I understand there are certain ways you can express yourself,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just not start, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
Team Form
Liverpool's form have been impressive in the period after the situation. Jones believes the forward's comments were not designed to harm the team.
“If passion has boiled over, it has consistently come from a good place,” he finished. “That chapter is closed and we’re uniting strongly, getting results and securing victories.”
