Trump Calls Relatives of Shot Military Members to White House

President Trump announced on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the executive mansion.

He noted that he contacted her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Information on the Heartbreaking Event

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a shooting on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in serious condition.

Gatherings across West Virginia have been held in their memory.

Presidential Invitation

The president said he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump informed journalists. “And likewise with him, recover or not.”

Public Support

Mourners came together over the weekend at the high school in the state to honor Beckstrom.

Both they had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of Trump’s national effort to support public safety in the capital.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that educators hoped for. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that inspired those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of her former high school, stated to the press. “She was sweet, considerate and always willing to support those in need.”

Memorial plans for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Legal Steps and Policy Adjustments

Officials have indicted a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and two counts of attempted murder while armed.

The tragedy prompted the Trump administration to halt asylum processing and halt issuing visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, enlisted in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the Associated Press.

He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, the state’s leader the governor said on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general stated on Fox News Sunday that she aimed to meet with the family.

Memory of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a military police officer with honor, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had fortitude,” the governor told the audience at the vigil. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
